Went there last night after trying Milts first. Started out with a great salad and loaf of sourdough bread. The filet was large and cooked as ordered. It tasted good but was shaped weird and didn't look like any filet I had seen before. Service was excellent and overall the family agrees that it was worth the trip.

Rusty's is a great little stop in cedar canyon. It's not far from the rest of Cedar City, but offers surprisingly good food In a rustic atmosphere. I had the ribs which were tender and delicious. More surprisingly the house salad and mixed veggie side were fantastic. Warm loaf of bread on the table when we sat down. Stop in for some hearty food if you're coming out of the national forest.

Had dinner here. Filet Mignon was awesome & reasonable price. My wife's was as tender as mine. Taressa was our server and she was very attentive and friendly. You can't ask for better food & service.

During a recent visit to Cedar City, friends and I tried several restaurants, and this was the favorite. Everything was fresh, and the food plentiful. My friend and I shared a petite filet and coconut shrimp, both of which were delicious. We had the chocolate mousse pie for dessert. The only drawback was the canned whipped cream it was served with. All in all, good food and cheerful service.

First let me say thanks to all the Yelpers who posted on this location before me. We would never have found this gem without the Yelp reviews and my GPS. Yelp location is off a bit. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. We were there on a Wed night in March so it wasn't real busy. Quantity and quality of the food for the price was excellent. Steak and Ribs for the Lady, the Ribs were actually much better than the ones we had a few days earlier at the famous Pat's in Salt lake City. My Ribeye was well trimmed, cooked perfectly. The starter salad was huge and very fresh. They served a loaf of bread with it, tried one piece, it too was very good. The steak came with Broccoli, cauliflower and carrots along with some fried mushrooms. Veg were done perfect, still nice and Al Dente, great flavour. Both entrees were $23 each, large glass of wine $3.50 and Bud beer was $2,75 a bottle. The two of us had more than either could eat and a drink for under $60. Yes the food a Sizzler is cheaper, but the alcohol is a lot more, you get far less food and the quality and atmoshere isn't anywhere close to as good. I liked the hunting cabin, ranch house ambieance. I would definitely go back if I were in Cedar City again. Visited March 2015

Excellent food and even better service. We went there with a group of ten people after a football game in Cedar City. There were other groups there but the staff never got flustered they just took care of business. I had the filet and ribs combo. Cooked perfectly it was very good. Priced at about $25. The Yelp map is showing it in a slightly different location so you will reach it about a mile before the map location if you're coming from Cedar City.

This place is located a short drive up a canyon outside Cedar City. The inside reminds me of a hunting lodge with animal heads displayed on some of the walls and wood paneling everywhere. The ambience is casual. I ordered the petite filet with a baked potato and veggies. It came with a salad which was just an ordinary green salad. There were a few leaves of lettuce that were wilted and kind of slimy looking so I stopped eating that. My steak however was wonderful! Cooked to perfection! The baked potato was good too and the veggies were cooked in a bit too much oil but tasted really good. The place is a bit pricey but the steak was so good that it was worth it!

Rusty's is fine. It's a short and pleasant drive up the canyon from Cedar City, which actually enhances its appeal. You get the pleasant illusion of taking a little journey, although it's a whopping 2 whole miles . Once inside, you may or may not get a pleasant illusion of being in a rustic lodge, depending on how you feel about an abundance of knotty pine and giant dead animals nailed to the walls. However, since you're probably here to eat meat, there's no sense in pretending to be squeamish about the slaughter of other species now. Service was very friendly and welcoming. I guess they're only mean to buffalo. We started with a Tumbleweed, which was a far more clever name for the Bloomin' onion they serve at the Outback. Other than that, they were identical: tasty if oversalted, hot and crispy and tender on the outside edges, less so the further in you get, so towards the middle the batter is basically raw and so is the onion. No biggie- by then you're out of dipping sauce anyway and ready for the pretty good salad and sourdough bread. Ribs are falling-off-the-bone tender, and the coconut shrimp were large and tasty, although the batter was a little thicker and heavier than it needed to be. The vegetable side was a mix of carrots, broccoli, and mushrooms- all of which were clearly prepared from fresh, not frozen. I also like that they have baked sweet potatoes as an option. (I see someone commented that theirs was dry. How can this be? Have they not heard of the miraculous re-constituting qualities of a glob or two of butter)? On the down side: they served cocktail sauce with the coconut shrimp, which was a disappointment.. That dish cries out for a sweet, tangy fruit-based sauce. Also, BG decided not to order filet based on the information that they had no bearnaise sauce. I realize this establishment is geared to the more casual diner, but bearnaise is a pretty standard offering and probably should be available since their steak choices were somewhat pricey. Scampi was nice and garlicky but the shrimp were small and overcooked, and the pasta was swimming in too much butter. Did I just say that? Guess even I can reach a point of grease overload. Anyway, most of the food is pretty tasty. They need to get some bearnaise up in there. The guys on the walls deserve it.

Good diner spot! The steaks was tasty, coconut shrimp was - huge. Nice place on the road from Bryce Canyon to Las Vegas.

So, when you are out on an old road headed out of Cedar City, UT you don't expect much food wise, right? Well, if you think that and don't stop and give Rusty's a try you will be missing some pretty good food. Rusty's doesn't have the best steak I have ever eaten, but it was flavorful, juicy and had the right amount of sear on it. The baked potato and salad were well worth it as we'll, and the veggies, even though they did not look appealing at all, tasted very good. The one thing I didn't like at all was the bread. It tasted like it was just a bit on the stale side and I could only eat one piece. All the staff was very helpful. We were seated right away and taken care of from beginning to end. Our server Donna D. was there with refills and answered all of our questions, even the stupid ones. Her recommendations were also right on target. Thanks so much for a wonderful evening and we will be coming back again.

Dining in Cedar is grim. We love the Shakespeare festival but struggle to find good meal. Rusty's is a regular stop for us. The steaks are solid (if not exceptional) and are prepared properly. Think Costco steaks to give you the idea. The ribs are fair, stay away from the fish. They have a wine list, limited and all low end, but in Cedar just having a wine list is a plus. The sides are all simple and usually overlooked. The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and it is 10 minutes from the festival.

Highly overpriced! My wife and I decided to take the drive up the canyon and try out this place. We walked into a large open room filled with a bus tour. While placing our order for expensive steaks, we asked about the accompanying vegetables and were told that carrots would be served. My wife cannot eat carrots, so we asked if some other option existed. The server indicated that she would ask. We requested her to return with the answer before submitting our order. Ten minutes later she comes to the table with our salads and tells us that the only other vegetables the have are bell peppers. We thanked her and left. We ended up eating at the Sizzler for half the price! Decent steak...and they offered us broccoli as a substitute for the baked potato without our asking.

Had the steak and ribs, which came with a side of boiled carrots and a loaded baked potato. The steak was good, but not as good as the one I had earlier in Bryce Canyon. But their ribs were delicious. Tender meat falling off the bone, crispy on the outside from being grilled, and coated in a delicious BBQ sauce. Mmmm. The sides however were a bit bland. This place was actually a bit tricky to find. The GPS took us up a mountain for a few miles, and then this restaurant seemed as if it just came out of nowhere partially up the mountain. I suppose a lot of people travel up and down this mountain for recreational purposes.

In Cedar City, chances are that you will see ads for this restaurant in every local magazine and all around the Utah Shakespearean Festival. It's not that bad! Judging by the healthy crowd that had already been seated when Mom and I walked into the building only 35 minutes after Rusty's had opened, a lot of people had the same idea. Rusty's is located about five minutes outside of Cedar City right off a road that cuts in between two small mountains. It's an easy way to escape the city proper and feel like you're in the middle of nowhere without actually being far away from the city at all. The atmosphere inside is decent as well...you sit in what is essentially a faux log cabin under the view of MANY taxidermied heads of various animals. When we ordered our meals, Mom originally wanted to order the 8 Oz. Flat Iron Steak because she wasn't too hungry, but the served informed us that they were out of the flat iron steaks, so she ordered the 12 Oz. Ranch House Ribeye ($22) instead. I ordered the Southwest Style Chicken ($12). The bread and butter the waitress brought out was delicious, although the salads were nothing to write home about...neither good nor bad. As for the main dishes, the ribeye was pretty good. The southwest style chicken was pretty juicy and had what seemed to be BBQ sauce with chunks of corn and a few beans here and there on top of it. It was decent, although the fries that came with it were the best part. You could tell that they were either cut fresh from a potato right before they were brought out to us or earlier that day...AND they had a delicious seasoning covering them as well. Not a bad stop if you're visiting Cedar City.

The food was very good. They have a special 2 can eat for $25.00. It was a great deal. Lindsay who seated us was very nice and Heidi, our server was outstanding. My wife could not eat all of her meal and when Heidi gave us our doggy bag all the sauces were in the box.

Don't ask for a wine list there is none. Don't share the half rack, should be called short ribs. 3 inches long and only 5 of them. You will be hungry. And the table rocked! Not worth the drive.

My nephew and I traveled cross-country from Detroit to San Diego to retrieve a car for him to have in SD. Night #3 was spent in Cedar City, UT. After we checked in, we started to look for good barbecue. Thankfully, we didn't have to look far. Based on Yelp reviews we headed to Rustys. We were not disappointed--thanks fellow Yelpers. We were quickly seated by a very pleasant hostess. Holly was an outstanding server and guided us through her recommendations. We started with the potato skin boats. These were among the best we have ever had. We both ordered the 1/2 order of baby back ribs. Holly had me at her recommendation when she told me their ribs were coated in Sweet Baby Ray's--our favorite sauce! The entree also came with generous salads, outstanding sourdough bread, potato, and very good string beans. The ribs were finger-licking good. We knew it was okay to do so in Utah when Holly brought over a container of wet naps. The decor was slightly offputting--walls covered with dead wildlife heads and the tables and chairs were from the 70s. All in all, it was a great place for dinner that I recommend with no hesitation.

i was in utah visiting bryce and zion national park and we were craving some meat. yelp lead us to Rusty's, which we never would have found driving randomly around cedar city. heh. when we arrived there was only one other party there and i believe only one other one showed up while we were eating. our party of six was seated right in the middle of the restaurant. i felt like we were becoming the center of attention, which is quite difficult with all the animal heads decorating the restaurants. i was starving, so it didn't bother me much. i ordered the honey bbq baby back ribs. we also split the wings. the wings were not very impressive and i wouldn't order the again. the baby back ribs were yummy. they weren't fall off the bone tender, but the flavor was pretty awesome and the sides that came with it were huuuge! i couldn't finish all my food, but i wished my stomach could fit it all. heh. i thought the food was 3.5 stars, but our waitress was very attentive and nice, so 4 stars for Rusty's. i'm not sure when i'll be back in utah, but i would recommend the ribs to other people visiting. =]

Drove here on a Monday after a day of skiing craving red meat. Bummer - it was around 7:30p when we arrived at the dark restaurant after being on a lonely road for a few minutes and it was closed, despite a sign on front saying it's hours were from 5pm to close everyday. Ended up at a great new BBQ place it town, so it worked out. We called the next day around 7pm and found that they were open (Tuesday) and we headed out there. Not very busy. Deer head decor. Had the steak and shrimp combos - excellent. Steak was perfectly cooked and tender. Price was on par for a steakhouse (thus, not cheap). Friendly wait staff with efficient service (granted, they were not packed). If traveling in the off-season, mid-week, call ahead. Due to the smaller staff, they recommend making reservations - will close down early if not expecting patrons. Worth the short drive from town.

Do yourself a favor if you are in Cedar City - EAT AT RUSTY'S!! True, there aren't a lot of restaurants to choose from, and we were only there for a few days, but trust me, even if you only have one night, this is the place to go to. I had the skirt steak which was cooked perfectly. The salad ahead of time was also wonderful, simple, but wonderful. Hubby had the filet and coconut shrimp, which he also liked. His filet was cooked to his liking and he said the shrimp were very good, and not overcooked (which he says happens often with coconut shrimp - go figure). The service was truly exceptional. Donna D. was our server, and she was friendly, funny and informative. She took great care of us. They also run Milt's, which we tried as well. Truly, the menu at Milt's had a little more to choose from, but we liked Rusty's much better. Next time we're in town, Rusty's it is!

I went on a Friday night and it wasn't busy. I ordered a ribeye and it wasn't anything special for $22. My sweet potato was dry and my wife's bbq chicken was dry. It's a nice location but the food was average.

On a road trip from Southern California to Aspen, CO via I-15 and I-70, stopped overnight in Cedar City and my hotel recommended this local restaurant. The charbroiled filet was excellent along with salad, baked potato and warm sourdough bread. Charming rustic setting.

as other reviews say, there isn't much choice out in Cedar City. This was recommended to us by our hotel (which is next door to a Sizzler - bleh)... we drove to find it and it was about 2 miles out of town. When you first walk in the first thing you notice is the giant stag and mountain goat on the side of the room mounted the wall. It was sort of funny... The atmosphere was quaint and was good family setting. Lots of space for tables and the main dining room has more GIANT elks and deers mounted to the walls and a chandelier made out of antlers (cute). I felt like they were sort of staring at us - ha! OK, the food... We both had the petite fillet and it was delicious. Medium rare, the way I like it and absolutely not a second overcooked. We also had the rib combo which was ok. The service was great and friendly and overall this was a good place to eat after a long drive. I'd definitely recommending this place and visit again.

Decent sit-down restaurant, but pretty far off the interstate and not easy to find. Good steak and yummy sides. The waitress was excellent, and that's a rarity these days. The decor was cute and quaint, with stuffed wild game hanging everywhere. This reminded me of a place I'd take my dad. It was perfect for what we needed, which was a family style restaurant with good solid food, at the tail end of day 2 of a three day, 2100 mile trip!

Very nice rustic lodge decor. In Cedar City for 3 days wanted a good steak. The food was very good steaks cook as ordered. It took almost 20 minutes to be seated, "Restarunt Empty" slow to take order. Service was bad, falls very short of 4 stars.

  • MJ W.

Service was mediocre. Salad was ordinary..just lettuce, one slice of tomato, one slice of onion and some croutons. the petite filet was served cold and it was full of fat and gristle. if yelp would let me I'd give it no stars.

There aren't many choices in Cedar City and so, when my friends decided they were in the mood for steak, we decided to try this place out. We all ordered the same thing - the steak and ribs combo for $20.50. The combo came with salad, bread, and side of vegetables. For the other side, you get to choose from three types of potatoes - baked potato, baked sweet potato, and french fries. You have two choices of ribs - BBQ or honey BBQ. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and ordered the honey BBQ. The steak that comes with the combo is a 7 oz petite filet. I ordered it medium rare and that's the way it came out, something that often doesn't happen (at least for me). There were four ribs that came in the combo and they were tasty. The portions were large enough for me, though for the larger eaters, it may not be. The bread wasn't anything to brag about. It was regular sourdough bread and was not hot or warm in the basket. The service was decent - waitress was friendly and even offered to give us separate checks if we wanted. The decor of the place is filled with stuffed animal heads everywhere - mostly deer. There were some caribou and a mountain goat. If those scare you, you probably don't want to dine here.
